Aqua Drilling Services Ltd is a business that is local, family owned and operated based in Williams Lake, BC. Hank Unrau, the founder, started the drilling business in the early 1970s. We offer a comprehensive lineup of services, including domestic and industrial water well drilling, well closures and more.
Our Company’s History
Hank Unrau, the founder of Aqua Drilling Services Ltd, started drilling in the Salmon Arm area during the early 1970s. He was in a partnership with his brother-in-law to the firm known as Triline Drilling. The company grew and eventually Hank split and started a separate company in the Kelowna area (Capri Drilling) with his two sons, Doug and Rod Unrau.
In the mid-1980s, the company was sold and Doug continued to work for the new owners until Hank was ready to move north to Williams Lake and return to the drilling business in 1988, opening as Aqua Installations Ltd. The family was quite familiar with the area, as Hank was an old-time resident. He had met and married his wife, Dorothy Armes, here in the 1950s and all four of their children were born in Williams Lake. Dorothy herself was born and raised in the area.
The “Go-To” Company for Satisfaction and Quality
Hank, Doug and Rod continued to serve the public with their drill rigs, building a solid reputation as the “go-to” company for satisfaction and quality. We changed our company name in 2003 to Aqua Drilling Services Ltd. Sadly, as of November 2014, Hank passed away, but Doug and his son, Andrew continue the company tradition of quality workmanship, friendly advice, community relations and a long line of satisfied customers in the domestic well, irrigation and mine exploration fields.
